My research interests primarily focus on figurative language processing. Much of my research has focused on the processing of idiomatic language (e.g., kick the bucket, let the cat out of the bag).

 

I’m also interested in other forms of non-literal language comprehension and processing, including humor comprehension and irony/sarcasm processing.

 

Another interest includes the issue of semantics versus pragmatics. With this issue, I like to take a multidisciplinary approach, relying on theories and evidence from psychology, linguistics, socio-linguistics and philosophy of language.
